I am blessed! My experiential life journey has taken me from where I grew up in the flat landscapes of the plains states to Northern New Mexico and the incredible beauty of the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez Mountains. Having called New Mexico home for almost 30 years, I cherish experiencing the health and lifestyle options available and the diversity of the people who live, create and recreate here. At the post- menopausal age of 55, I was overweight and unhealthy with high blood pressure and acid reflux. Seeking healthy alternatives after receiving a failing grade in an annual physical report from the doctor, I discovered and ventured into StudioNia and began my dance recovery, dancing three times a week. Now, four years later, I’m forty-four pounds lighter and off the blood pressure and acid reflux medications. Movement through dance has become my medicine of choice, and has greatly enhanced and expanded my life and health! In October of 2013 I profoundly experienced my first JourneyDance with Toni Bergins, which began an exciting new phase of my life. With Toni’s guidance, within the security and comfort of the space she created, the dance flowed from the depths of my heart and soul. I was immediately inspired to become a JourneyDance Facilitator and to share with others the creativity, beauty and health benefits of JourneyDance. Come JourneyDance with me in the beautiful Land of Enchantment and discover for yourself your own soulful expressions through dance movement and world music! Deanna Watson – JourneyDance Guide.
My creative childhood development began with the donning of mouse ears to perform in front of the television to Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club. I forged my foundation and talents as a drama student in high school and as a ballerina in the Dallas Metropolitan Ballet. My love for dancing, singing and acting led to my first professional job as a dancer and aerialist with Disney on Parade, where I performed in front of audiences across the U.S, and in Mexico and Canada. I continued my passion for movement by choreographing and performing at dinner theatres and special events, and by teaching children’s creative dance, ballet and jazz for the YMCA. In 2010 I was blessed to discover Nia, which I continue to participate in weekly for body fitness. My love of Free Dance in Nia led to my discovery of the amazing world of JourneyDance, which I practice and facilitate weekly to enhance my spirit. Dance is the creative source of my life, and can be for you too! Join me for a JourneyDance flow and experience the magic you can create for yourself through music and movement!
