Hello, I'm so glad you found me! Let me begin by saying movement is my medicine. Discovering JourneyDance in 2011 has transformed the way I care for my whole self--body, mind, and spirit. Up to that point, I did a fine job of nurturing my mind and spirit, but my body often took a back seat. Since that time, I've managed to make my own health a high priority and I've literally danced myself out of a Type 2 Diabetes label and completely off of medication. I can honestly say I feel more vibrant and alive than I have in years. Along the way I've worked though a lot of emotional "glunk" on the dance floor and gained clarity about my life purpose, which is helping others heal from the inside out as they unearth their own inner well-spring of joy. Thanks for visiting. I hope to shake and shimmy with you soon!
I am a teacher, writer, dancer, dreamer and inspirer. Whether I am scratching out words on a page, splashing colors on canvas, sharing Reiki with a client, creating community on the dance floor, or speaking to a group, there is an embodied element to everything I do and all that I am. Most of my days are spent exploring the power of the expressive arts to act as change agents, perspective shifters, and resilience builders in my life and the lives of others. I own a small business, Cityscape Consulting, devoted to writing coaching and integrative curriculum design. In June of 2014 I opened SHINE, a healing expressive arts studio sponsored by Cityscape. My first book, Feeding the Roots of Self-Expression and Freedom—a collaborative venture with poet Jimmy Santiago Baca and Kym Sheehan—was just published by Cedar Tree Poetics, NM, and I am currently working on a collection of poetry. I hold an MA in Humanities plus three years of doctoral study in adult education, and I spent many years teaching at the secondary and post-secondary levels. In June of 2014 I opened SHINE, a healing expressive arts studio sponsored by Cityscape.
