In 2015 I unfortunately injured my hand and wrist, the past two years have been a tumultuous ride with two surgeries’, physical therapy, depression, healing and finally acceptance. Faced with no longer being able to continue my career as a Licensed Massage Therapist I was wallowing in self-doubt. On a R&R retreat to Kripalu, I attended a noon dance class, this of course meant dancing with the amazing Toni Bergins. I enjoyed the class so much I logged onto JourneyDance.com to find a class. I made the rounds in my area, Belmar, Princeton and Bradley Beach to dance with these beautiful women. In February 2017 I went back to Kripalu and attended Journey Dance You are the Prayer. This workshop was the catalyst. I knew I needed to be a part of this amazing community of women and men. I feel whole, complete, seen, listened to, not judged, just accepted as I am. That’s the true gift of Journey Dance for me!

Growing up in New Zealand as a kid we were always outside moving, playing hide and seek, bulrush in the park, hopscotch and so on. I remember making daisy chains and wearing them in the hair as a crown, a necklace and twirling, dancing, ah such lovely memories. At school I was on the basketball and track team, so moving yet again! We biked to Intermediate and High Schools, continually in some type of motion. Fond memories being on the Marching Team. As a young woman I played indoor soccer, again more movement.
Never a great proponent of working out for the sake of working out, I realized I’m not a fan of structured exercise for myself. Over the years I’ve tried many activities, body building, aerobics, Barre method, Nia to name a few. I’ve liked some, some not so much. Besides walking out in Nature, nothing has spoken to me in the way Journey Dance has. It does NOT feel like exercise! Yay!

It’s motion, it’s movement, it’s mystical, it’s transcendent, it’s tribal, It’s enfolding, embracing my whole being. Journey Dance’s vibrational frequency resonates with me. I love Journey Dance!
