Following a particularly demoralizing divorce in 2009, Nicole sought out Toni and JourneyDance as a means to re-discovering Herself, re-learning Love, and expanding into a whole new dimension of Life. As much as the practice of yoga has the capacity to cultivate awareness, and reveal and shift patterns of physical, emotional and karmic resistances within us that are both the cause of our pain and the source of our greatest joy, JourneyDance is a revelation unto itself where the personal and universal dimensions of each dance are a free-form expression of honoring and loving what is unique about our Self, and about letting go of the burdens we hold onto. Nicole is a JourneyDance Facilitator, leading each precious dance story with curiosity for whatever shows up, and a passion for really feeling and being in the body that make her classes an altogether spacious and embodied experience for all.
NICOLE GRANT is an International American, born in Beirut, Lebanon, and raised in Surrey, England and Geneva Switzerland. She started teaching fitness in 1988 (certified through the American Council on Exercise), studied Biology, Sports Medicine and Art History in College (Wellesley), and went on to pursue her Masters of Science in International Nutrition and Food Policy at Tufts University. A synergistic stream of life events lead Nicole to shift her focus away from her intention to pursue medicine and infectious disease, to studying Eastern philosophies and yoga; she opened up her studio, Yoga Mandala, in October 2001.
Nicole’s greatest source of pride and joy is that of being a mother to two rather awesome kids. She deeply honors the practices and teachings of Sri K. Patthabi Jois, and Nancy Gilgoff, in the Astanga vinyasa lineage, BKS Iyengar, Shambhala, and Toni Bergins of Journey Dance. She is an active member of The Himalayan Institute (with whom Nicole has travelled to India and Africa), the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), and the Journey Dance Tribe. She continues to be inspired by the work of Gabrielle Roth, Richard Schwartz and IFS (Integrated Family Systems), the teachings of Abraham, Louise Hay, and the writings of Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Richard Bach and Rumi. Nicole has been featured in Natural Health Magazine, is a Master Reiki practitioner (Usui Method), Life Purpose Coach (Life Purpose Institute), Integrative Nutrition Therapist (Tufts University), JourneyDanceTM Facilitator and Senior Yoga Teacher.
