Opening Our Heart: Dancing for Love
Saturday September 26, 2015, 2-4 PM
Brattleboro, Vermont

The heart is a sixth sense that provides us with important wisdom. Sadly many of us have learned to keep our hearts mostly closed. This Journey Dance Workshop invites us to use dance and music to open our hearts fully to life, exploring unconditional love, lightness of being, grace, gratitude, and communion with others.

My JOURNEYDANCE™ Story...

I found Journey Dance in 2012, when I was creating a plan to heal from cancer that used only alternative treatments. Journey Dance was an important element of my healing process. It offered me a place to express and release emotions, connect with my body lovingly and find joy. Journey Dance helped me join with others and create a deeper relationship with spirit. I danced, with intention, my visualizations for healing. I found that a weekend of Journey Dance was like a super therapeutic booster shot for my healing process. And I couldn’t stop smiling. Nine months later, in a Journey Dance class with Toni and live drummers, during the fire ritual, I danced with spirit and experienced the cancer leaving my body. Two weeks after this my doctor confirmed (what I already knew): the cancer was gone.

Journey Dance also inspired me to teach dance again and defined for me a form of dance that I wanted to offer to others, so I attended JD teacher trainings, Module one in 2013 and Module two in 2014, and had so much fun dancing!!! In 2014, I began teaching a weekly class in Brattleboro, Vermont.

MY BIO

Dance has always been a healing experience for me, since a very young age, when I performed in the living room for my family. Creating dances in high school, in a weekly choreography class helped me survive adolescence. Studying a range of dance forms taught me about people and culture. Combining dance with healing, brought me to becoming a Dance/Movement Therapist, now for the past 26 years, moving with people of all ages, individually and in groups. Journey Dance brings together my favorite things: inviting people to become more embodied, to move, express, play, connect with nature, create joyful community and heal. These things are necessary for global healing
