I discovered JourneyDance at Kripalu in 2012 and immediately took to it like a fish to water. I've loved to dance all my life (even got a few varsity letters in modern and jazz), and yet have danced less and less since graduating from college. I missed the fun, collective experience of free form dancing with friends, and discovered that in JourneyDance. I also discovered an incredible way to release tension, open my heart, and express myself through JourneyDance. As a JourneyDance Guide, it is my goal to bring JourneyDance to New Yorkers who want to let go of their daily anxieties and experience a transformative and empowering hour of grounding, self expression, release, celebration and joy on the dance floor.
I started dancing at a very early age, and for many years took modern, jazz and ballroom dance classes. At college, I danced every weekend and performed in a few musicals. Since then, I have gone to dances at fancy New York hotels, got down at friends' wedding receptions, and danced around my living room, all of them irregularly. It was only when I went to Kripalu in 2012 and took a JourneyDance class that I reconnected with my free form dancing self, and rediscovered my passion for dance as self expression. Professionally, I began my career as a public art consultant, spent time in the digital media space, served as a fundraiser for a non-profit theatre company, and then transitioned into higher education to network and bring people together through alumni relations. I now wish to bring people together on the dance floor through JourneyDance.
