I've always loved dancing. I've always felt the tension about being a "good" dancer and loving the freedom movement offered me. When I discovered JourneyDance I realized that "doing it right" or "looking good" didn't matter. I was hooked! The deeper I dove into the practice, the more and more I realized how much it had to offer. I found JourneyDance at a particularly difficult time in my life. I just started therapy and was working through some big emotional work. In retrospect I now realize how instrumental my dance practice was in my healing journey. I am now a Registered Psychotherapist and I encourage my clients to engage in a physical practice to help move their emotional blocks. I LOVE being able to offer this healing work to people. It is so much more fun and effective than sitting in a therapy office talking (now that is important too... but not without engaging the body!). I love encountering a new group to JourneyDance and witnessing them transform through music, visualization and play. Leaving a class yesterday, one of my participants said to me "I feel so good". That is what this work is about. We all deserve to feel that good. I believe it is possible. I hope you will come and dance and see how good you can feel!
I am a Registered Psychotherapist, Certified JourneyDance Facilitator and work in the International Development Field engaging youth and young adults. I am passionate about working with people so that they can find peace and passion in their own lives. When I was growing up, I felt a strong call to make a difference in this world. After many years of travelling, I've discovered my place to do this is right here at home, starting with myself and the community that surrounds me. It is a blessing to be able to offer healing to this world, especially at this time when it is so desperately needed!
