Immersion to me is really getting into it! Not half way, but really committing to digging in and staying in the dance of life. When I immerse myself completely, I forget everything else around me and just drop into the moment. Where are you fully in? Where are you committed to yourself or others, and where are you just going through the motions, wasting your time, and not enjoying it?
This quality of Immersion is the art of giving attention to each body part and it’s flow. To follow where it leads and let it express in a slow, luxurious, liquid flow. Here we fall in love with our own body parts and awaken our self-love. We give gratitude in our thoughts to this body that has carried us for so long.
In the past, I've been mean to my body and self critical. This dance is where I use my practice of "selective thoughts” and say to myself only those that bring me healing and joy. On a physical level our thoughts hold great importance. Our bodies are made of living tissue, water and fluids. Emoto, in his book The Hidden Messages in Water, showed case after case that thoughts can have an effect on water. Your thoughts are affecting your body! When talking to yourself, you are talking to your whole being.
In this quality I move slowly and then quicker. I follow my own flow and pace, I invite mobility into my joints, into my shoulders, spine, chest, hips and knees and invite warmth and honey to circulate throughout. I enjoy this body exactly as it is!!!
Movement suggestions for you:
- Start with your fingers, hands, wrists...
- How does each part of your body move?
- Can you really look at each part and give it your attention?
- Move to the elbows, shoulders and down and around.
- Get everything moving.
- Be so internal that it becomes a meditation.
- Tell yourself loving thoughts about your body parts and find gratitude for it’s function and beauty.
