I was invited to attend the Module 1 Training in San Antonio by my dear friend, Adelle Brewer. She told me I would love it! I said okay and went down for the training without having ever done a class. I like to jump in when my intuition tells me its the RIGHT thing to do! Recently, I returned to San Antonio and attended the Module 2 Training after teaching JourneyDance for two years. The experience was AMAZING. I was enthralled! The JourneyDance Flow is so creative and allows a student's expressivity to shine…I so enjoyed being a student and gave myself permission to dive deeper into myself! Toni Bergens, the creator of JourneyDance, is so authentic. She brings all of her experience as a healer to the dance floor. Her enthusiasm for healing and loving others is infectious. Having her as a trainer for Modules 1 and 2 has been outstanding! I have learned so much about heart-centered teaching from Toni. I have experienced true transformation and acceptance of myself on the JourneyDance dance floor. What a gift!
Shannon first experienced Nia on the 2003 Shape Your Life Retreat with Shape Magazine at Red Mountain Spa in St. George Utah. Recognizing the power of the unique, conscious movement, she returned to Dallas and immediately began taking Nia classes. Shannon completed her White Belt in February 2004, her Blue Belt in June 2005, her Brown Belt in July 2006, and her Black Belt in July 2008. Dedicated to developing her Nia practice to share the power of awareness, pleasure, and sensation with others, Shannon has also completed For All Belts (2004) training, EMT training (2007), and the 5 Stages of Self-Healing Certification (2008) with Debbie and Carlos, the co-creators and founders of The Nia Technique. She completed the Green Belt training in February 2009 with Carlos Rosas. In October 2011, Shannon became a member of the Nia Faculty of Trainers as a Nia White Belt Intensive Trainer. She completed the Nia 52 Moves training in July 2012 with Nia co-founder Debbie Rosas and most recently completed her 1st Degree Black Belt with Debbie Rosas in February 2014. Currently, Shannon teaches six weekly classes in Dallas and Denton Counties in Texas. She also trains future White Belt Nia Instructors, as well as master students, who desire a deeper connection to the practice of Nia. Shannon completed her JourneyDance Module 1 in February 2012 and her JourneyDance Module 2 in April 2014. Both certifications were with JourneyDance creator Toni Bergins. She teaches JourneyDance monthly and uses her skills learned from Nia to enhance her JourneyDance classes and vice versa! For Shannon, her Nia training changed her path and her life, empowering her to shed 45 pounds and to step into the role of Nia teacher! In addition, she holds Bachelor of Business in Entrepreneurship and a Masters of Science in Natural Health and always encourages her students to create a healthy, joyful lifestyle by integrating nutrition and mindful movement into their daily lives. She loves the community conscious dance creates and feels blessed every day that she lives and teaches what she loves!
