Guerda discovered JourneyDance during her yoga teacher training at Kripalu. Not knowing anything about JourneyDance she attended her first class just for the fun and joy of dancing, and what she got was so much more. She had such an indescribable and incredible experience; she knew she wanted more of it. During her month long stay at Kripalu, she attended every JourneyDance class she could. Guerda found the freedom to move, to listen to her body, explore her emotions, reconnect with her playful self and connect with Source all on the dance floor. With the desire to share this amazing healing practice with others, within just a year Guerda has completed all the requirements to be Certified JourneyDance Facilitator. ". I dance to let go of whom I was told I should be. I dance to embrace who I am"
Guerda is health and wellness enthusiast, committed to motivate, empower and inspire others to tap into their power and healing potential. Her experience in wellness and alternative health practices extends over decade. She has always been fascinated by the anatomy of the body and how it moves and functions. This fascination with the body led her to obtain a B.S in Exercise Science as well becoming a licensed massage therapist, specializing in various modalities such as Reiki, Myofascial Release, Craniosacral therapy and Somato-Emotional Release. Through her work as a bodyworker, Guerda became aware of the intricate connections between the mind and the body and that the two are parts of the whole not separate entities. She also experienced the affects of this distorted and disconnected perception of the mind and body had in her personal life, thus began to explore other modalities to heal such as yoga and meditation. This journey of self inquiry and healing inspired her to become a yoga teacher through the Kripalu School of Yoga and JourneyDance Facilitator. Guerda believes true healing comes when the individual is treated as a whole and issues of the mind and body are addressed in an integrative way. She holds a Masters in Mental Health and Counseling with a specialty in Trauma. “My intention is to use my gifts to assist others in their healing journey. I want to impact people’s lives by influencing their wellbeing, educating, inspiring and providing them with tools that will help them to navigate through life with more ease and joy”
